Two Other Coronavirus Related Crimes People should be Outraged By

While the people of the country are rightly incensed at the shooting of Ahmaud Arbery in Georgia and the fact it took the online releasing of a video capturing a portion of the event to press murder charges on the two men (father and son) who participated in the act two months after the fact, there are two other crimes, committed more recently that should also generate just as much outrage.

The first crime concerns the murder of Calvin Munerlyn in Flint, Michigan on May 1, 2020.

Why was Mr. Munerlyn, a security guard at Family Dollar Store murdered?

Because he told a family group of three that they needed to wear a mask before they entered the store.

One of the family members argued with him and spat on him before all three left to tell two other family members who later went to the Family Store to kill Mr. Munerlyn.

After a week on the run, the two killers have been arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Others have been charged with tampering with evidence and obstruction of justice.

Mr. Munerlyn was killed for just doing his job in helping to protect people from getting the Coronavirus.

The violent actions taken against him may make opponents of the death penalty (like this writer) pause and wonder if there should be an exception for the person who committed this vile crime. 

The second crime occurred at a McDonalds in Oklahoma City on May 6, 2020, when a customer shot a McDonald’s employee and injured three others after being told to leave (per social distancing guidelines) the dining room area. After getting into a fight with the McDonald’s staff, she left and returned with a firearm and started shooting.

Fortunately, no one was seriously hurt.

What is outrageous is this person was mad because people were enforcing the health safety guidelines during a public health emergency.

People should be outraged that individuals or small groups would resort to such violent measures when the victims are only doing all they can to ensure THEIR safety.

There is no justification for such heinous acts and the people who commit such injustices for being asked to wear a mask or leave a no entry dining room area should get the maximum punishment possible.

We are a nation of laws not a state of anarchy.
