Guess what.
The Trump Administration, surprise surprise, appears to have lied about the vaccine supply it had to distribute to the states.
According to reporting from the Washington Post, previous assertions by the Administration of a reserve vaccine supply were exaggerated.
That has affected states like Arizona, (please click here to view a January 15 article by Alison Steinbach) who counted on these phantom reserves to schedule vaccination administration appointments.
This is increasingly problematic for health care specialists and residents in the Grand Canyon State because COVID 19 numbers, due in part to the holidays and Governor Ducey's aversion to taking stronger statewide measures, have surged to the point where Arizona is the national leader in weekly new Coronavirus cases.
President-Elect Biden and Vice President-Elect Harris Present their Vaccination Plan.
Stepping into the leadership void that is the soon to be former Trump Presidency, the incoming Biden and Harris Administration unveiled their Vaccination Plan for the nation when they take office on January 20, 2021.
Acknowledging that "things will get worse before they get better" and saying "we didn't get into this all overnight and we won't get out of it overnight either, but we will get through it," Mr. Biden, together with Ms. Harris, conveyed some of the steps they would take to produce and distribute COVID 19 vaccinations throughout the country.
These steps include working with state and local governments to:
- Set up Federal Community Vaccination Centers in local areas, especially in vulnerable demographic areas like Tribal regions.
- Organizing priority groups to be vaccinated first.
- Implementing the National Defense Production Act to coordinate with identified industries to ramp up vaccination production and distribution.
- Giving pharmacies access to vaccines to administer.
- Ensure the vaccines are administered equitably with no community short-changed.
The President-Elect said that despite the mess the Trump Administration is leaving his new team, he is confident 100 million people could get vaccinated within the first 100 days of his Administration.
He also pledged to be open and transparent with the American People on updating them on the progress in all phases of combatting the Coronavirus.
Mr. Biden called on Congress to pass his funding requests to rescue the country and its recovery from the Pandemic.
He closed by calling for unity, saying:
"We cannot solve our problems as a divided nation. The only way we come through this is if we come through together."

On these scientists joining the Administration, President-Elect Biden said:
“Science will always be at the forefront of my administration — and these world-renowned scientists will ensure everything we do is grounded in science, facts, and the truth. Their trusted guidance will be essential as we come together to end this pandemic, bring our economy back, and pursue new breakthroughs to improve the quality of life of all Americans. Their insights will help America chart a brighter future, and I am grateful they answered the call to serve.”
Vice President-Elect Harris wrote:
“From the coronavirus pandemic to our climate crisis, this past year has reaffirmed the importance of listening to scientists when it comes to meeting the unprecedented challenges facing the American people. These world-renowned scientists and experts reflect the very best of our nation and we are sending a clear message by naming them to these important roles: in our administration, decisions will be informed by the best available science and evidence.”
An Administration that puts an emphasis on science and evidence-based facts.
Thank God.
