Corporate America does the right thing.
Whoever thought a writer for this Blog would start a column with that sentence?
Well, nothing like appearances to sway corporate executives to do the right thing to maintain the company image and profits.
Since the Trumpist Insurrectionist attempt on January 6, 2021, several corporations and industries have cut off cash contributions to Coup Plotting Republicans who encouraged the rioters to attack the Nation's Capitol.
Some of the corporations that have shut off the fundraising valve are:
- Marriott.
- Blue Cross.
- ATT & T.
- American Express.
- Facebook.
- Google.
- Microsoft.
- Goldman Sachs.
- JPMorgan Chase
- Hallmark.
- Commerce Bank.
- Amazon.
- Verizon.
- Coca Cola.
- Citigroup.
According to reporting from both the New York Times and Washington Post, the main political targets for exile from campaign contribution land are:
- Ted Cruz.
- Josh Hawley.
- Rick Scott.
- Roger Marshall.
- All House Republicans that objected to affirming the 2020 elections.
According to the Washington Post, Hallmark wants the campaign contributions it gave to Hawley and Marshall returned.
Rick Scott, being the newly selected finance chairperson of the Senate Republican Campaign Committee, may not be the best face for his party at this time.
Even the PGA has decided to drop the Trump Golf Resort at Bedminster from hosting the 2022 PGA Championship.
The Never Trump Lincoln Project is organizing a multimillion-dollar ad campaign, targeting companies that contribute to the campaigns of Republicans that voted to overturn the election and encouraged the Trumpist Insurrection on January 6, 2021.
Well if Congress can not expel these coup plotters and they will not resign, probably the best way to dissuade these seditious know nothing's is to cut off their money supply and financially starve them into political oblivion.
Either way, they would be gone from public service.
Good riddance.
Hopefully, Corporate America will permanently continue this newfound streak of decency.
