Now House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy calls for uniting.
After enabling and joining with about 140 of his fellow Trumpists (including his number two Steve Scalise and all members of the Arizona "Republican" Delegation) in contesting the Electoral College votes on Biden won states with no factual evidence to substantiate their objections, the California Representative who walked past a CNN reporter when asked if Joe Biden is the President-Elect, said:
“The task ahead for the next Congress and incoming Biden Administration couldn’t be more momentous. But to deliver a better America for all, partisans of all stripes first must unite as Americans and show our country that a peaceful transition of power has occurred.”

Two spineless Trumpist enablers clearly evading their responsibilities in creating this national tragedy and putting the onus on the new Administration to put back together what they helped tear apart.
As Zach Beauchamp of Vox headlined: "Republicans Own This."
Well, the first step towards uniting and healing the country would be to throw the Coup Plotters, Big Lie Spreaders, and Trump Zone enablers out.
People like Kevin McCarthy, Lindsey Graham, Steve Scalise, Josh Hawley, Ted Cruz, Debbie Lesko, Andy Biggs, Paul Gosar, and David Schweikert should follow the example of the West Virginia State Legislator, Derrick Evans, who was arrested for his participation in the attempted coup against Democracy and the Republic on January 6, 2021.
RESIGN NOW.
If they do not, a vote should be taken to either expel or censure them. Voters should shun and defeat them in their next elections.
Steps should be taken in removing or refusing to seat members of State Legislatures that either took part or encouraged the Trumpist Insurrection with their vile spread of baseless accusations of a fraudulent election.
In Arizona, that would include people like Kelly Townsend (who should be kept out if she does not wear a mask,) Wendy Rogers, and Mark Finchem.

People should also disown the media personalities and sites that funneled these false accounts of voter fraud and election rigging. Individuals like Sean Hannity, Lou Dobbs, and Maria Bartiromo need to be fired and never allowed to work in a reputable journalistic organization again.
The second step toward uniting and healing the country would be to hold everyone responsible for this assault on American Democracy accountable. The people that directly incited this insurrection (Donald Trump, Donald Trump Jr, Rudy Giuliani) need to be charged with sedition, murder, and attempted murder.
Trump encouraged these domestic terrorists to attack his own Vice President and the members of the Legislative Branch, made phone calls to Senators when the insurrectionists were storming Congress to make sure they would follow through on their election objections, and apparently delayed calling in the National Guard while people were dying.
Impeachment, invoking the 25th Amendment, and getting Trump to resign are all appropriate political remedies.
Sending Trump and his confederates who caused this attempted coup to jail is better.
Those are the first two steps to heal our country.
The final step would be to strenuously combat COVID 19 and rebuild the economy. Fatalities reached a record 4,000 a day last week. The country lost 140,000 jobs during the holiday season.
The American People need help.
They also need public servants that will faithfully serve them and follow the law.
Throw the Coup Plotters out, hold them accountable, and rebuild the country by combatting the Coronavirus and repairing the economy.
Those are the steps necessary to heal the country and move forward.
