The Biden/Harris Administration will not waste any time getting started on moving forward on their priorities after getting sworn in on January 20, 2021.
They have already announced their intentions to submit proposals on Rescue and Recovery legislation to combat COVID 19 and move the country forward.
President-Elect Biden has also unveiled the new Administration's plan to vaccinate one hundred million vaccines in a hundred days.
Reporting from various sources (like Axios, the New York Times, Politico, and The Washington Post) has also revealed that Mr. Biden will launch a series of Executive Orders that will reverse Trump/Pence policies and steer the country in a different forward direction.
Incoming White House Ron Klain reportedly commented:
“These actions will change the course of COVID-19, combat climate change, promote racial equity and support other underserved communities, and rebuild our economy in ways that strengthen the backbone of this country: the working men and women who built our nation,” Klain wrote in the memo. “While the policy objectives in these executive actions are bold, I want to be clear: the legal theory behind them is well-founded and represents a restoration of an appropriate, constitutional role for the President."
These Executive Orders are reported to include:
- Rejoining the Paris Climate Agreement.
- Extending a pause on federal student loan payments.
- Extending the eviction moratorium.
- Issuing a COVID 19 mask mandate for federal institutions.
- Revoking Trump's travel ban on nations with large Muslim majorities.
- Directing the relevant agencies to reunite children separated from their parents at the southern border.
- Allowing transgender individuals to use the restroom of their choice.
- Restoring the rights of federal workers to unionize.
According to the New York Times, the new Biden/Harris Administration will release an immigration bill that would "provide a pathway for citizenship to the 11 million illegal immigrants in the country."
According to reporting from Politico, Klain also indicated that the new Administration would:
- Sign additional executive orders focused on "addressing the Covid-19 pandemic, including ways to help schools and business reopen safely, expand testing, protect workers and establish clearer public health standards."
- "Expand “Buy America provisions,” take action to advance “equity and support communities of color,” begin to reform the criminal justice, expand access to healthcare and work toward reuniting families separated at the border."
There has been no reporting rejoining the World Health Organization or forgiving a portion of student federal loan debt is among this first flood of executive orders.
