According to various news sources like the hill report below, despite denials during his confirmation hearings, Attorney General Sessions may have indeed had contact with members of the Russian Political Spectrum (specifically the Russian Ambassador to the United States). With rumors of Russian interference on the side of Trump during the election (one in which he is only President because of the electoral college), the need for a special independent counsel grows more urgent as the Attorney General would probably not be an honest broker. If Loretta Lynch had to recuse herself after meeting Bill Clinton on a plane, we can expect no lesson from Mr. Sessions.
