Now that the Republican plans for repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) appear to have been put down, now is the time for the Democrats to step up and present their ideas for fixing that law and invite Republicans to join them with their ideas and present a bipartisan proposal that will stabilize the situation. Senate Minority Leader Schumer gave a very eloquent speech last night following the defeat of the "skinny" amendment (in sharp contrast to the petty one delivered by Majority Leader McConnell). The Democrats need to take this opportunity to show they are the party of progressive ideas and their remedies are best to move the country forward.
