"With Great Power comes Great Responsibility." President Trump should listen to Stan Lee

Yesterday, when the Republican Health Care Bills in the Senate collapsed, the President told the nation that he and the Republicans don't own the failure. It was the Democrats fault for not wanting to vote for a bill that was written in secret, had no hearings, and forecasts over 20,000,000 people losing their health insurance. Imagine not wanting to support that. It is also galling the chutzpah of the President, Senate Majority Leader McConnell, and Speaker Ryan to blame Democrats when they are the ones that control the Executive and Legislative Branches of government. I fear for our country if the majority of the Republican supporters are that stupid to buy their endless stream of lies.

Borrowing a phrase from Stan Lee (or the comic book writer who wrote the quote in Spiderman), "With great power comes great responsibility." Well you can also add that "Great Presidents are people that accepted responsibility." By that criteria, President Trump may find himself ranked among the all time worst Presidents in our history when all is said and done.

What do we do? First, we realize that the United States, while a great country, is not as great as it used to be and we need to quit pussy footing around and steer the ship on the right course again. There is an excellent video clip from the introduction of the HBO show "The Newsroom" with Jeff Daniels that gets it right. Second, as has been mentioned in previous posts, we need to solve the persistent problems facing our country and planet. These include inequality, health care, infrastructure, education, the environment, and moving forward. There are good ideas on both sides to all these issues which can be blended together to move our great nation forward. One recent idea now that the Republican Health Bill has collapsed was offered by Senator (former West Virginia Governor) Joe Manchin where he proposed having all the Senators who were once governors form a committee and based on their gubernatorial experience, come up with fixes to the health care system. Similar variants of these ideas are already floating around with the current nations governors. It is time to roll up the sleeves, get pragmatic, compromise, and get our country moving forward again.
