Years ago, there were "experts" that said integrating the armed services would be bad for combat readiness and morale. That was wrong then.
They then said the same about women serving in combat. They were wrong then too.
Later, they said openly gay servicepersons would be a hindrance to morale. Guess what: wrong again.
Now the President offers this tweet to ban transgenders, based in part on the reactionary zeal of the ultra conservative and alt right factions of the President's followers who feel Putin is a good Christian because he is anti gay. This is wrong now and the military should be applauded for resisting this. Let's hope public pressure gets the President to reverse his position.
