Donald Trump has always shown a disdain for multinational organizations.
He has continually whined over the years about N.A.T.O., the W.T.O., the U.N., the E.U., N.A.F.T.A., and the G7, saying American allies have continually taken advantage of the United States (and Presidents dumber than the Stable Genius) since the end of World War Two.
In his America First-Fox Island-Trump Zone “mindset”, he continually embraces a more isolationist-go it alone posture for the United States despite the reality that the globe and its citizens are now all interconnected via demographic movement, trade, and technology.
This attitude was dangerous with Charles Lindbergh and the America First Movement in the early 1940s.
It is perilous now with the President of Betrayal using the Coronavirus to advance his America First agenda by cutting off funding to the World Health Organization (WHO) in the middle of a global pandemic.
The Liar in Chief’s rationale for cutting off the funding. That the WHO did not adequately prepare the world for what was happening with the Coronavirus spread in China and that WHO leadership is too friendly with the People’s Republic.
Forget the Fact Checks and Trump’s own words (which admittingly vary depending on the day. Remember the phase when he referred to the Coronavirus as the Chinese one) that make these reasons laughable.
People need to remember:
This is the same Donald Trump who let 40,000 Chinese fly into the United States after instituting a “travel ban” on China.
This is the same Donald Trump who tweeted on February 24, 2020, that the WHO was “working very hard and smart.”
This is the same Donald Trump that still has not instituted a “Manhattan Project–Marshall Plan” to ramp up testing supplies and other medical equipment needs, leaving the nation’s governors to do all the hard work while saying (before backing down on Tuesday) that he was the ultimate authority.
Making the WHO the latest scapegoat to cover up for this Administration’s failures and advance the America First Agenda the KKK Endorsed Candidate’s Trump Zone-Fox Island cultist disciples like could potentially make the pandemic worse and risk lives.
Notable figures in this country and around the world like Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Michael Bloomberg, Melinda and Bill Gates have already condemned the move.
Even Trump’s Center for Disease Director, Dr. Robert Redfield declined to thoroughly discuss Trump’s move, saying:
“WHO has been a long-term and still is a great partner for us. We’re going to continue to do all we can together to try to limit this….Those decisions (Trumps shutting off funding) that are going to be made above, related to some of the geopolitical issues, I have to leave to those that really have that expertise. But for me and for CDC, in the public health arena, we’re continuing to work side-by-side with WHO to do the best that we can to limit the spread of disease and to protect the American people.”
Only Republicans who stoke conspiracy theories like Tom Cotton or need the fringe base to vote for them this November like Lindsey Graham are putting out statements applauding Trump’s move.
This is not the time to conduct an ideological crusade to please a know nothing fringe base.
Trump should not be risking lives by directing his America First Agenda against the World Health Organization in the middle of a Pandemic.
His dangerous isolationist (and nativist) actions are another reason why he should not be allowed to continue in office past January 20, 2021.
