A Victory for Fiscal Sanity: The Kansas Tax Experiment Ends

When Sam Brownback became Governor of Kansas in 2011, he launched a massive supply tax cut program that he said would generate great economic growth for his state. Well, the growth never materialized and social services, especially schools, faced massive cutbacks like a reduction in instructional days. Despite this calamity, it took years for a sufficient majority in the Kansas State Legislature to see reason and undo most of Governor Brownback's tax "reforms" and restore fiscal sanity. While Kansas will pick up the pieces and put its fiscal house in order, the worry is the "geniuses" behind the Kansas Trickle Down Policies are some of the same people helping to craft the Republican Tax Care Plan. Hopefully, they will pay heed to recent history and use it as a guide for what not to do.
