There is an education plan floating around in Chicago where high school graduates need to demonstrate they have a post-graduation plan before getting their high school diploma. This is very interesting where students would need to show they have either been accepted into college, enlisted in the military, or found a job. The only potential issue would be the job component. Would a job at Subway, making subs, qualify as a post-graduate plan? This is not meant to be a snobby point but all educators (and families) do not want their kids to graduate high school and their plan was to work at Subway. Still, it is an interesting idea and it will be interesting to see if there are similar plans being developed across the country.
