This idea came up in the debate for Obamacare where alternatives for health care access were considered like cooperatives. There was an interesting video from the Stephanie Ruhle show where one of the physicians commenting on the Republican health care plan suggested that organizations like churches, townships, and cities offer health insurance to its members or citizens. Entities like unions already promote this type of opportunity. This would be an excellent option to increase health care access and cut down costs if a variation of health care reform does pass or if people want to modify Obamacare.
