Kristin Urquiza may have helped put Arizona in Joe Biden's column on the first night of the DNC Convention

 Michelle Obama was powerful tonight as the Keynote Speaker on the First Night of tonight's Democratic National Convention.

So was Bernie Sanders, John Kasich, Andrew Cuomo, and most of the evening speakers who spoke about Donald Trump's deficiencies as President and Joe Biden's strengths as a potential Chief Executive.

But perhaps the presentation that could have the most significant electoral effect in Joe Biden and Kamala Harris's favor was the one delivered by Arizona's Kristin Urquiza.

During her appearance, Ms. Urquiza talked about the passing of her father, Mark Urquiza, a resident from Tolleson, from the Coronavirus.

Saying "her dad should be here today but he isn't," Ms. Urguiza blamed Donald Trump for his death because her father "had faith in Donald Trump...he believed him and his mouthpieces when they said that Coronavirus was under control and going to disappear that it was okay to end social distancing rules before it was safe...."

Believing Trump, Urguiza went out to a Karokee Bar when Doug Ducey reopened the state in May and contracted the Coronavirus. He would spend five days on a ventilator in a hospital and died without loved ones near him because, per health guidelines, his family was not allowed to be in his room.

Saying her father was a "healthy 65-year-old," Ms. Urquiza stated, "his only pre-existing condition was trusting Donald Trump and for that, he paid with his life."

She then told of how of her community activism to keep communities of color (which have been affected more with the Coronavirus) safer from COVID 19.

Ms. Urguiza then said:

"The Coronavirus has made it clear there are two Americas; the America Donald Trump lives in and the America my father died in...Donald Trump may not have caused the Coronavirus but his dishonesty and his irresponsible actions made it so much worse...We need a leader who will step in on day one and do his job. To care. One of the last things that my father said to me was that he felt betrayed by the likes of  Donald Trump. And so when I cast my vote for Joe Biden, I will do it for my Dad."

Ms. Urguiza's moving, sad, and powerful message should persuade many in Arizona and across the country that Donald Trump is not acting in their or the nation's best interests. He is only serving himself, even at the cost of innocent lives.

Kristin Urguiza's compelling presentation at the Democratic National Convention may have just helped deliver Arizona, and other states, to Joe Biden's column this November.
