To All Americans, Trump just Screwed You

 

Mr. Trump just signed four Executive Orders this afternoon that will:

• Give $400 in enhanced unemployment benefits to people that can not go back to work either because there is no job or for health considerations although the states have to give $100 of that allotment.
• A moratorium on evictions for properties only held by federal loans.
• A moratorium on student loan payments and interest accruals for those that have taken out federal loans.
• A payroll tax holiday for those making under $100,000.00 that one wanted (despite what the liar in chief said.)

Readers need to keep in mind that Democrats, in the Heroes Act, wanted to:

• Pay $600 in enhanced unemployment benefits without requiring the states to do so.
• Provide an eviction moratorium on more properties than Trump's Executive Order with housing financial aid.
• Give assistance for those suffering from food insecurity.
• Direct stimulus payments to individuals and families.
• Extend the payback protection program.
• Pass a student loan moratorium that goes for a whole year and actually forgives up to $10,000.00 in student loans.
• Fund for schools to safely reopen including additional monies for broadband and bridging the digital divide.
• Pay essential and hazard workers.
• Aid state and local governments including rural communities.
• Promote voter security and safety through increased mail-in ballots.

Readers also need to remember that Democrats passed the Heroes Act close to three months ago. Senate Republicans did nothing until about two weeks ago and were fragmented from the moment of their plans (a third the cost of the Democratic one's) release.

Enemy of the People and Political Prince of Darkness Moscow Rich Mitch McConnell did not even bring the Senate Republican Plan up for a vote.

Why?

Because he did not have the votes from his own majority to pass it. Even Trump called their bill (the one from his own party) "semi-irrelevant."

To all the Americans who just saw the Liar in Chief sign four Executive Orders of questionable legality, you have to realize that he just Screwed You.

For those that think that last statement is an exaggeration, ask the question of how all the Republican Governors in the country, including Arizona's Doug Ducey, feel about having to chip in $100 of the enhanced federal unemployment benefits when they were counting on assistance from the Congress.

By all standards, the Democratic plans are designed to combat the Coronavirus, help the most vulnerable, and give states the aid they need to function during the pandemic.

Their plan will help people all across the country.

If people think Mr. Trump helped them today, remember:

• The Democrats offered $600 a month in enhanced unemployment assistance. Mr. Trump, in his Executive Order, does not and there is no guarantee the states will provide their $100 towards the now $400 amount.
• The Democrats eviction moratorium covers everyone and provides housing assistance. Mr. Trump, in his Executive Order, does not.
• The Democrats student loan moratorium covers everyone and provides some loan forgiveness. Mr. Trump, in his Executive Order, does not.

Do you really want the help Donald Trump is offering?

Call your Congressmen and Senators and tell Republicans to get their act together and work with the Democrats for the good of the country and the people.
