As head of the Environmental Protection Agency (E.P.A.), Scott Pruitt's job is to protect us and the environment from industrial and commercial overreach. Instead, like most Trump appointments, he is leading a department he is seeking to destroy from within. This is obviously no surprise to people in the know about public policy as Pruitt's years of suing the E.P.A. should have made clear. What is new is that the culture of corruption that Pruitt has brought to the E.P.A. with hosting dinners for the very industries that are supposed to be regulated and flying to Oklahoma for long weekends on the public dime. This person has to go and not let the soundproof door in his office hit him on the way out.
