The two news stories below illustrate what happens when the United States does not have a well formed and planned foreign policy geared for the long term. Now, there is no guarantee that events in Somalia and Iraq would have turned out differently if we did have more thorough long term planning but it might have helped. The President should consider this before embarking on knee jerk whims in North Korea and Iran.
